Be careful what photos you use on your blog.

Roni Loren, a best selling Romance author, shared her story on her web site about what happened when she used a photo she found on Google on her web page:

I often post photography articles to my blog along with their photo with a note where I got it from as a source. Apparently even though you link back it is still not okay.

I will also post an article in quotes and a link directly back to the web site that posted it originally. I assume that is not okay either?

For example, here is a post I did in April 2011

My trip to Washington DC on April 14, 2011

I had trouble sleeping. The bed was so hard. I think I finally got out of bed and called my mom for a bit. While I was on the phone with her I had the idea to check out the free breakfast downstairs. After I got off the phone with her I went to check it out. I had a bagel and a muffin and some juice. I overheard a guy telling a couple who was visiting DC not to even try to park at the Vienna Fairfax station to take the Metro. There will not be any parking this time of day. He told them to go to East Falls Church or West Falls Church. I texted Dad what he had said.

We got stuck in traffic on the highway. Our GPS told us to get off at the Vienna Fairfax exit because of the traffic jam. We got off just to see what the parking lot was like at Vienna Fairfax station. It was full. We got stuck in more traffic. We finally made it to a station and parked.

We got off the Metro at the Smithsonian stop. We went up the escalators and by the exit a lady was handing out Washington DC maps. We came out the exit and it was an amazing sight. If you looked to your left you saw the Washington Monument and if you looked to the right you saw The Capital. I had fun taking pictures.

Going to see the White House was so amazing. I stood on front and just looked at it for a while. I put the camera through the black fence and took several photos. Three tourists asked me to take their photo in front of it. Dad took my photo in front of it too. I would have stayed there longer but there was a guy talking on a megaphone and another guy singing at the top of his lungs.

We weren’t really sure where to eat. Dad didn’t want to try any of the places my brother mentioned. We found a food court that had some pizza. It was really good. After we ate lunch we went to the National Museum of American History and the National Air and Space Museum.

I wish I had time to see The Library of Congress and National Archives. Maybe next time.

I would saw if you are in DC and you don’t have much time. Go to the National Mall. It is even more impressive if you do what we did. Take the Metro and get off at the Smithsonian stop so when you come up the escalators you will have a view like I did. It was amazing.

I could have posted a link to the article with my favorite points in the article and use a photo I have taken. This would be difficult if I have not taken a photo on that subject yet. If that is the case, I will need to pick articles on subjects for photos that I have taken.

Nashville Twilight Convention, April 14, 2012, Day 2

10:55 am - Julia Jones (Leah Clearwater of The Wolf Pack)

Julia Jones (taken by me)
  • Julia told us that Chaske is the glue that holds the pack together. She is closest with him. Someone asked her to tell us something about him since she is close with him. She told us to ask him what are his shopping habits.
12:10 pm - Daniel Cudmore (Felix of The Volturi)

Daniel Cudmore (taken by me)
  • Daniel got the part of Felix but originally auditioned for the guy on the motorcycle.
From @rpexaminer:
  • Daniel said there was a scene involving the new secretary and the Volturi guard biting her neck that was cut from BD.
  • Daniel jokes that in his roles he either kills or gets killed.
  • Daniel’s not-so-favorite part of the movie making was an hour of makeup, wearing a wool coat and long pants when it’s so hot in Italy.
  • Daniel’s favorite part was traveling and said it’s great to be part of this franchise.
  • Daniel said when he got the role he went out and bought the books and the bookstore employee gave him a funny look.
  • Daniel said the best pickup line was a 60-70 year old woman who said “Don’t worry, my husband is at home.”
  • Daniel is doing a Percy Jackson movie starting at the end of May.
  • Daniel says the most exotic film location he’s been on was in Italy.
  • Daniel jokes that while the Wolfpack was eating veggies he was eating whatever he wanted – and flaunting it.
  • Daniel liked the darkness of Eclipse. Favorite to film was New Moon.
  • Daniel says he keeps in contact with @alchemission more than any other cast member.
  • If Daniel was truly a vampire he’d be full-blown one, not a veggie one.
  • Daniel says in 8th grade he started acting classes and continued all through high school.
  • Daniel wears a size 14 shoe
  • Daniel says his guilty pleasure is frozen pizzas and sour candies.
1:35 pm –  Booboo Stewart (Seth Clearwater)

Booboo Stewart and Sage (taken by me)
3:25 pm - Casey LaBow (Kate of The Denali Clan)
  • I had lunch while Casey was on stage
4:35 pm –  Chaske Spencer (Sam Uley of The Wolf Pack) = YAY!

Chaske Spencer (taken by me)
When I saw the schedule the Wednesday before I was like, “aww I have to wait until 4:35 to see Chaske. Such a long time to wait.” heehee
  • When he first came on stage, he said he hadn’t done one of these in a while.
  • Chaske talked about the Huntsman spiders in Australia and how they were huge and every where. He had to check his pants and shoes to make sure there weren’t any in them
  • I submitted anonymous question and asked “If you had to eat 5 foods for the rest of your life, what would they be?” He got real excited and started to answer with pizza, pie and ice cream.
  • He said he would love some warmed apple pie with vanilla ice cream followed by a tall glass of chocolate milk <3
  • I also submitted anonymously if he could live anywhere but NYC where would it be? He said Montana.
  • Booboo’s sister says she loves him. It was so adorable.
  • A little while later a young girl asks him, “are you single?” he blushes.
  • Chaske and I have similar shopping habits. He said the paparazzi photographed him and Alex shopping in Vancouver and in some photos it looked like they were a couple. They had bought similar shirts and were asked to change.
From @TwilightLexicon
  • Chaske loved the Hunger Games movie
  • Chaske says going to a premiere is like Prom but on a huge scale. He was a deer in headlights for New Moon, but felt more comfortable for BD
  • Most of Chaske’s conversations with Stephenie Meyer were about music and playlists.
  • Chaske has several movies coming out. Shouting Secrets, Winter in the Blood, and Desert Cathedral.
  • He was asked to pick a vamp to be locked in a cage with and he said Kate Beckensale!
  • While filming a TV series in Australia @THEREALCHASKE bought a guitar and has learned 6 chords.
  • Chaskes Fav soundtrack is New Moon. He loves the Twilight artists.

5:40 pm –  Photo Op with Chaske Spencer = YAY!!!!
I walk up to him. He has a big smile and says, “Hello!!!! How are you???” I tell him I am good. We hug for a photo. (I almost didn’t make it back for my photo op. I ran to my room a minute. I thought I had time but it turns out I didn’t. They had already started when I got there. Never again lol I had to run to get there on time. I was out of breath and sweaty by the time I got there)
5:55 pm – Wolf Pack Photo op.
6:45 pm – Autographs
Chaske signed my photo op I had with me. It was from the first time I met him in Indianapolis in July 2010. He drew a heart on it and when he gave it back he said, “thank you darlin’ “ <3 I love that. He was asking us where can he get a tattoo in Nashville. He said he wanted to get a waterfall tattoo. He mentioned this during his panel at the Indianapolis Twilight Convention in July 2010. The person that takes him around from place to place said he only had an hour break. No time for tattoos.
Daniel signed my photo. When he first got my photo, the lady said to him, “Wow you are really tall.” I said, “Or I am just really tiny.” Daniel says, “nah”
9:30 pm – The Cullen Wedding Reception Party
Chaske and everyone left around 11. They got to go out somewhere in Nashville. I went back to my room to look at my pictures I had taken that day :)
